Before leaving the clinical setting, inactive patients should be referred to the physical activity resources available to help them become more physically active. The EIM was launched by CMHA President Robert E. Sallis, MD, FACSM in 2007, who has continued to champion the EIM initiative since its inception. Under the direction of Dr. Sallis and the EIM Advisory Board, Adrian Hutber, PhD, is a supervisor. From 2007 to 2017, EIM became a global global initiative with more than 40 countries around the world. The first five years of the initiative focused on the global awareness that "exercise is good medicine".
