Remote Sensing Research Articles

Remote sensing is the acquisition of information about an object or phenomenon without making physical contact with the object and thus in contrast to on-site observation, especially the Earth. In remote sensing, the sensors are not in direct contact with the objects or events observed. Information needs physical support to move from objects / events to sensors via an intermediate support. Electromagnetic radiation is normally used as an information carrier in remote sensing. The output from a remote sensing system is generally an image representing the scene observed. An additional step of image analysis and interpretation is necessary to extract useful information from the image. The human visual system is an example of a remote sensing system in this general sense. Journal of Geophysics & Remote Sensing is an open access peer-reviewed journal on remote sensing.
