Psychiatric Epidemology is a sub-field of epidemology which deals with the concept, etiology and prevalence of mental illness in a society. Most characteristics , attitude of people is often influenced by the society and hence a certain population has some features in common, thus leading the certain type of psychiatric diseases common to a population and if this is detection the population can be treated on the whole. Psychiatric Epidemology is comparitively a new field epidemology which is gaining attention and plenty research is still being carried out.
