Pharyngeal cancer is a type of throat cancer that forms in the pharynx, the hollow tube that runs from the back of the nose to the top of the esophagus. Signs and symptoms of throat cancer may include: A cough, Difficulty swallowing, Changes in your voice, such as hoarseness or not speaking clearly, A lump or sore that doesn't heal, A sore throat. The doctor inserts an endoscope (a thin tube with a camera and light on the end) through the nose or mouth and into the pharynx, and uses it to look for any abnormal areas. The doctor may also examine nearby areas such as the larynx and esophagus to determine if the tumor has spread beyond the pharynx.
