Periodontal diseases are often called as gum diseases or gingivitis. The mildest form of periodontal disease is Gingivitis which is often reversible even with professional treatment. Smoking, aging, genetic predisposition are the factors that contribute gingivitis. Untreated gingivitis leads to periodontitis. Toxins produced by the bacteria irritate the gums which stimulate a chronic inflammatory response and there by the tissues and bone that support the teeth are destroyed. Scholarly journal is a peer-reviewed journal in which scholarship relating to a particular academic discipline is published. Scholarly journals serve as forums for the introduction and presentation for scrutiny of new research, and the critique of existing research. Content typically takes the form of articles presenting original research, review articles, and book reviews.
