Neurology is a field that deals with the disorders of the nervous system. The neurologist checks the patients health history and gives special attention to the current situation of the patient. Scientific journal is a periodical publication intended to further progress of science, usually by reporting novel research. There are thousands of scientific journals in publication, and many more have been published at various points in the past. Most journals are highly specialized, although some of the oldest journals publish articles and scientific papers across a wide range of scientific fields. Scientific journals contain articles that are peer reviewed, to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity. The publication of the results of research is an essential part of the scientific method. If they are describing experiments or calculations, they must supply enough details that an independent researcher could repeat the experiment or calculation to verify the results. Each such journal article becomes part of the permanent scientific record. Neurology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study and treatment of disorders of the nervous system. The nervous system is a complex, sophisticated system that regulates and coordinates body activities. It has two major divisions: Central nervous system: the brain and spinal cord and Peripheral nervous system: all other neural elements, such as eyes, ears, skin, and other "sensory receptors" The neurologist treats disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, and nerves, such as: Cerebrovascular disease, such as stroke, Demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis, Headache disorders, Infections of the brain and peripheral nervous system, Movement disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, Neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease), Seizure disorders, such as epilepsy, Spinal cord disorders, Speech and language disorders, Neurologists do not perform surgery.
