Mental disorder that are impairments of the growth and development of the brain or central nervous system. Neurodevelopmental disorders are a group of disorders that affect the development of the nervous system, leading to abnormal brain function. Neurodevelopmental disorders are a group of disorders in which the development of the central nervous system is disturbed. This can include developmental brain dysfunction, which can manifest as neuropsychiatric problems or impaired motor function, learning, language or non-verbal communication. Examples of neurodevelopmental disorders include Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Learning Disorders. Therefore, there is currently no indication that neurodevelopmental genetic disorders can be cured by restoring normal gene expression, replacing or otherwise interfering with gene product, or bypassing the mutation altogether as we do not know (yet) how we could allow unconstrained brain plasticity to take place.
