Molecular Oncology is an open access journal for new discoveries, approaches, and technical developments in basic, clinical, and discovery-driven translational cancer research. We focus on work that significantly advances understanding of disease processes leading to human tumour development and/or establishes novel concepts of clinical significance in diagnosis, prognosis, and prevention strategies. In this work, we investigate the importance of molecular investigations applied to bronchial washings collected during fibreâ€optic bronchoscopy for lung lesions. Using a cancerâ€specific DNA methylation panel and gene mutations analyses, we demonstrated that bronchial washing represents a useful material for performing molecular tests in lung cancer patients.
