Migraine Open Access Journals

Migraine attacks usually occur at any time, in particular either during days off or workdays. Limited evidence is available on the efficacy of antimigraine drugs in patients whose attacks occur on weekends. Psychological factors seem to play an important role in the pathophysiology and clinical development of weekend migraine and some authors in the past have postulated that a psychic tension component might be superimposed to the vascular component in this subtype of migraine. Although weekend migraine has been a poorly investigated condition over the years and specific evidence of drug efficacy for treatment of this condition is lacking, there is no reason to doubt that current drug options for migraine treatment can also be effective for weekend headache.
