Industrial Catalyst

Industrial Catalyst

Catalyst can be defined as a substance that speeds up chemical reactions by providing an alternative pathway for the breaking and making of bonds. It lowers the activation energy that is required for the carrying out this chemical reaction. Catalysts are often specific for one particular reaction and this is particularly so for enzymes which catalyze biological reactions. In the chemical industry and industrial research, catalysis plays an important role. Catalysts are in constant development to fulfill economic, political and environmental demands.
