Heredity is the official journal of the Genetics Society Profits generated from the journal go back to the research community in terms of small grants and support for conferences and workshops. Heredity specifically supports fieldwork grants for genetics-related research; we encourage award recipients to submit resulting publications to Heredity.
Heredity also encourages involvement of early career researchers: for 2019 we have initiated an annual prize for the best student paper published in Heredity each year and we encourage joint peer review between junior and senior academics.
