Schizophrenia is a highly heritable disorder. Genetic risk is conferred by a large number of alleles, including common alleles of small effect that might be detected by genome-wide association studiesitÂ’s widely accepted that a complex interplay of genes and environment contributes to schizophrenia, which affects about one percent of the population and is characterized by cognitive dysfunction, delusions and hallucinations.Schizophrenia has a lifetime risk of around 1%, and is associated with substantial morbidity and mortality as well as personal and societal costs. Although pharmacological treatments are available for schizophrenia, their efficacy is poor for many patients.People living with schizophrenia usually require a combination of medication and talking treatments, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to better control their symptoms. A journal is a periodical publication intended to further progress of science, usually by reporting new research. Most journals are highly specialized, although some of the oldest journals publish articles, reviews, editorials, short communications, letters, and scientific papers across a wide range of scientific fields. Journals contain articles that peer reviewed, in an attempt to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity. Each such journal article becomes part of the permanent scientific record.
