Dermoscopy or dermatoscopy refers to the examination of the skin using skin surface microscopy, and is also called 'epiluminoscopy' and 'epiluminescent microscopy'.
Dermatoscopy is an in vivo non-invasive technique used to examine pigmented and amelanotic skin lesions. The technique is performed using a hand-held self-illuminating device called dermatoscopy that visualizes features present under the skin surface that are not normally visible to the unaided eye.
