Coronary artery aneurysm is defined as a localized dilation of a portion or diffuse segments of the coronary artery with a diameter of more than 1.5 times the adjacent normal coronary artery. Angiographically detected coronary aneurysms have an incidence of 0.3% to 4.9% among patients undergoing coronary angiography (1). More than 90% of coronary aneurysms are of atherosclerotic origin. Potential complications are thrombosis, rupture and embolism (2). In recent years, covered stent implantation has emerged as a new strategy to treat this rare disorder. There have been reports of successful treatment of coronary aneurysms with the polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-covered stents, supporting the use of this strategy.
