Cirrhosis, also known as liver cirrhosis or hepatic cirrhosis, is a condition in which the liver does not function properly due to long-term damage. This damage is characterized by the replacement of normal liver tissue by scar tissue. Typically, the disease develops slowly over months or years.Fibrosis describes encapsulation or replacement of injured tissue by a collagenous scar. Liver fibrosis results from the perpetuation of the traditional wound healing response leading to an abnormal continuation of fibrogenesis (connective tissue production and deposition). Fibrosis progresses at variable rates counting on the explanation for disease , environmental and host factors (1-3). Cirrhosis is a complicated stage of liver fibrosis that's amid distortion of the hepatic vasculature. It results in shunting of the portal and blood supply directly into the hepatic outflow (central veins), compromising exchange between hepatic sinusoids and therefore the adjacent liver parenchyma, i.e., hepatocytes.
