Cervicofacial Actinomycosis

Cervicofacial Actinomycosis

Cervicofacial actinomycosis is a rare, suppurative and granulomatous chronic infectious disease characterized by abscess formation, draining sinus tracts, fistulae, and tissue fibrosis. Dental caries, dental manipulations and oromaxillofacial traumas are the most common triggering events for invasion of actinomyces into the subcutaneous tissue causing the disease.
