A body area network (BAN), also referred to as a wireless body area network (WBAN) or a body sensor network (BSN) or a medical body area network (MBAN), is a wireless network of wearable computing devices. The rapid growth in physiological sensors, low-power integrated circuits, and wireless communication has enabled a new generation of wireless sensor networks, now used for purposes such as monitoring traffic, crops, infrastructure, and health. Its main purpose is to provide an integrated ubiquitous computing hardware, software, and wireless communication technology platform, and an essential condition for the future development of ubiquitous health care monitoring systems . BSNs originated from WSNs, so there are many similarities between them.
