Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that develops methods and software tools for understanding biological data, in particular when the data sets are large and complex. Bioinformatics involves the integration of computers, software tools, and databases in an effort to address biological questions. Bioinformatics approaches are often used for major initiatives that generate large data sets. Two important large-scale activities that use bioinformatics are genomics and proteomics. Medical centers are also increasingly hiring bioinformatics graduates as genomics data become important in medical research and clinical applications. Bioinformatics is not only combination of Bio and Informatics but it also includes various fields like Drug Designing, Genomics, Proteomics, System Biology, Machine Learning , Advanced Algorithm for Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Computational Biology and many more. It combines biology, computer science, information engineering, mathematics and statistics to analyze and interpret the biological data. Bioinformatics has been used for in silico analyses of biological queries using mathematical and statistical techniques.
