Bioremediation is a waste management technique that involves the use of organisms to remove or neutralize pollutants from a contaminated site. The term Bioaugmentation describes the addition of culturable organisms to the subsurface which has capable of transforming or degrading the ground water or soil contaminants. As these micro-organisms are the center of the natural process of water treatment, it makes sense that adding to the microbial community would enhance and improve the water treatment process.
