Vanung University was founded by Professor Hsin-Chai Chuang on March 27, 1972. In 1973, it was renamed as Van Nung Institute of Industry, and the Department of Industrial
Management came into existence, recruiting vocational high school graduates. Dr. Thomas Chuang is the 7th President of Vanung University and the Professor of
Computer Science and Information Technology in the Electronics and Information College. Dr. Chuang has executed many research projects and published numerous papers is the fields of Natural Language Processing, Pattern recognition, Image Processing, Neuronetwork , Superfluidity, Superconductivity, and
nanotechnology .
College of Aviation and Engineering: The college includes six departments that offer undergraduate programs, and three of them also offer graduate programs. Those departments are as follows Aeronautical and Opto-Mechatronic Engineering,
Civil Engineering ,
Environmental Engineering ,Computer Science and Information Engineering ,Digital Multimedia Technology and Industrial
Management .College of Design:“Cultural Creative Industry” in “Challenging 2008: Features of National Development” promoted by the government, and “the Flagship Project in Excelling Design in Taiwan (DIT)” pushed by the Ministry of
Economy have been mainly emphasizing the upgrading of innovation and design abilities of Taiwan.
College of Tourism, Hospitality and Management:. This college of tourism, hospitality, and
management was set up in 2015. Eight majors are available as options within this degree program: Food and Beverage
Management ,
Tourism and Leisure Management,
Hotel Management , Air Transport and Service Management,
Business Administration, Information Management,
Marketing and Logistics, and
Finance Management.
