The University of New Orleans founded in 1958. The University of New Orleans was established by Act 60 of the 1956 The University has educated students from all 64 Louisiana parishes, all 50 states, and more than 130 countries, bringing together a variety of talented and motivated students so that they may learn, interact and pursue their career goals. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 6,601. University of New Orleans is ranked in #220 (tie) in High School Counselor Rankings and #218 (tie) in Business Programs and #200 (tie) in Engineering Programs (doctorate). The University of New Orleans has grown to become a major research university. Categorized as an SREB Four-Year 2 institution, as a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University-Intensive, and as a COC/SACS Level VI institution.The University of New Orleans is a comprehensive urban research university committed to providing educational excellence to a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is committed to research involving both undergraduate and graduate students. The mission of student research is to engage all students in research across all disciplines. The goals of the Office of Research are to Introduce students, regardless of discipline, to research: the search or discovery of new information through creative and scholarly works and Provide the mechanisms for students to search for research funding opportunities. The University of New Orleans Research and Technology Park is a research park whose tenants collaborate with the university to conduct research, provide training, and create education opportunities.
