Universite de Montreal was founded in 1878 with two affiliated schools, the École Polytechnique and the HEC Montréal and now it has become the largest university in Quebec and second largest in Canada. It offers programs in almost all academic fields 16 faculties and 80 departments and schools. Université de Montréal is the only university which teaches health sciences, houses one of Canadas largest faculty of arts and sciences. With two affiliated schools it brings together 2600 professors and researchers from different fields,465 research units and has become one of Canadas largest student bodies at the masters and doctoral levels. It offers more than 650 undergraduate programmes and graduate programmes, including 71 doctoral programmes. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2012-2013 ranks the Université de Montréal at 84th place globally. More than 55,000 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs, making it the second-largest university in Canada in terms of student enrolment.
