United Nations University

United Nations University established in 1973 is a global think tank and postgraduate teaching organization headquartered in Japan. The mission of the UN University is to contribute, through collaborative research and education, to efforts to resolve the pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare that are the concern of the United Nations, its Peoples and Member States. The university is headed by a rector who holds the rank of Under-Secretary General of the United Nations. University is having its own publications of the Articles, Books, Policy Briefs, working papers, etc.., Over the years, several Institutes of UNU were created to help with the research initiatives of the United Nations. Most notably, in 2007, a vice-rectorate was established in Bonn (UNU-ViE), Germany, as a way of strengthening UNUs presence in Europe. Role of the University is to generate new knowledge, educate, extent of individual and institutional capacities. Different Programmes in the University are UNU Programme for Biotechnology in Latin America and the Caribbean, UNU Food and Nutrition Programme for Human and Social Development, etc., with research Topics like Science, Technology & Society, Global Change & Sustainable Development and Population Health.
