United Arab Emirates University the first and foremost comprehensive national university in the United Arab Emirates, founded in 1976 by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAEU is a comprehensive, research-intensive university enrolling approximately 14,000 Emirati and international students located in the city of Al Ain, an oasis city in the Abu Dhabi emirate 140 km east of the capital city of Abu Dhabi and a similar distance from the city of Dubai. The university admits UAE nationals primarily, with about 15% of its student body coming predominantly from other Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for the
management of the university as well as the overall direction of policy and strategic planning,
budget and financial activities, external relations, alumni, and services that support the academic mission of UAEU. United Arab Emirates University offers a full range of accredited, high-quality graduate and undergraduate programs through nine Colleges:
Business and Economics; Education; Engineering; Food and Agriculture;
Humanities and Social Sciences; IT; Law;
Medicine and
Health Sciences; and Science comprehensive university with diverse undergraduate and post graduate programs like College of
Business and Economics, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Food and Agriculture, College of
Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Information Technology, College of Law, College of
Medicine and
Health Sciences, College of Science.
