Union of International Assosiations 1986, by Dr John S Thalgott. Ceased to exist when merged into NNI Research Foundation, 2009. Promote clinical research involving conservative and operative management of spinal pathologies; promote and develop new techniques and devices for the treatment of spinal pathologies. Throughout the pre-1914 period, Belgium was the main host country of the international movement. The UIA was founded in 1907 under the name Central Office of International Associations by Paul Otlet (considered one of the fathers of information science) and Henri La Fontaine (Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1913) to enhance collaboration between organizations, and to serve as a centre for documentation. The UIA partners with a number of intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations, as well as other entities that help further its aims.   UIA is a non-profit, independent research institute, a repository for current and historical information on the work of international associations. UIA documents the work of International Nongovernmental Organizations (INGOs) and Intergovernmental Organizations (IGOs) and promotes the public awareness of their activities. UIA’s focus today is on promoting the internationality of these organizations and in representing the collective views of international bodies.   The work of the UIA is of particular interest to academic researchers in a wide range of disciplines including: ·         Political Science ·         Sociology ·         International Relations ·         Peace Studies The UIA works with universities and research institutes around the world and frequently assists graduate and post-graduate students with their research and data needs.   The UIA has consultative status with ECOSOC and associate status with UNESCO.   The Yearbook Online data has just been refreshed.
