In August 2007, the UA, under the charge of Scientist Peter Smith, led the Phoenix Mars Mission, the first mission completely controlled by a university.
The UA is leading a first-of-its-kind mission to send a spacecraft to a near-Earth asteroid in 2020. The spacecraft will scoop samples to bring back to Earth, helping us understand the origins of the Solar System.
