Air Force Institute of Technology also termed as AFIT, is the Air Force’s graduate school of engineering and management. It provides professional and continuing
education for the United States Armed Forces and is a part of the United States Air Force. It is located in Ohio at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, near Dayton. It was founded in the year 1919.Its mission is to advance air, space, and cyberspace power for the Nation and its partners and armed forces by providing relevant defense-focused technical graduate and continuing education, research, and consultation. Its vision is to be the internationally recognized leader for defense-focused technical graduate and continuing education, research, and consultation. The Graduate School of Engineering and
Management offers graduate programs in areas of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in engineering, applied science, and
management disciplines. The Graduate School has six departments namely Aeronautics and Astronautics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics and Statistics, Operational Sciences, Systems Engineering and Management. The faculty consists of approximately a 50–50 mix of military and civilian members who hold a Ph.D. in their respective fields. The faculty to student ratio is typically 1 to 6 in the master’s degree programs.
