epilepsy surgery, pediatric cardiac surgery, base of skull and vascular surgeries, to name a few.
It has 2 Departments & Divisions of which 1. Achutha Menon Centre for
Health Science Studies Hospital Wing, which has Community Research,
Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Ethics, Gender and Health,
Health Policy and Management, Technology departments 2. Bio-Medical Technology Wing which consists of Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Biochemistry, Department of Cardiology, Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Division of Cellular and Molecular Cardiology, Department of Imaging Sciences and Interventional Radiology, Division of Microbiology, Department of Neurology, Department of Neurosurgery, Department of Pathology, Department of Transfusion Medicine.
The institute has pioneered some advanced neurological therapies in India, like
Epilepsy surgery and Deep
Brain Stimulation. In the past 15 years, the institute has done nearly 1,220
epilepsy surgeries — the highest number by any hospital in Asia. SCTIMST has a 239-bed hospital for tertiary care of cardiovascular and neurological diseases. It is a small range: under-250 students enrolment coeducational higher
education institution. This 44 years old H.E. institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations. The admission rate range is 10-20% making this Indian higher
education organization a most selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrolment.
