Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute

The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute is located in Panama and is started in the year 1923. Its main research concentrates on Marine Research. It allows their staff scientists to achieve their research objectives. Even though the STRI is located in Panama research will be done throughout the tropics.
STRI has Marine laboratories on the coast of Panama. It is a modern marine laboratory and great facilities are there to conduct researches. STRI marine scientists are conducting a global survey of levels of genetic isolation in coral reef organisms. STRIs relationship with the Republic of Panama continues to be of central importance.
The STRI Conservation Forum, a periodic meeting at the Tupper Headquarters in Panama City, brings together many of those interested in conservation policy, research, and education.
