Sheffield Children’s hospital was established in 1876 and provided services under NHS since 1942. It was in 1992 that it was established as an NHS trust. Under the Act 2003 it became Sheffield Children’s foundation Trust which is again under the Health and Social Care (Community Health and Standards). The hospital has been serving its inpatients as well as outpatients. The hospital has well established itself in UK and other places across the globe. It is registered without conditions with the care quality commission (CQC), which is an independent regulator of health and social care in England. It is a much dedicated hospital amongst the four children’s hospitals in UK. It provides a symphonized service for children and young fellows, taking community and mental health care along with acute and other special services. Children from 0-16 sometimes up to the age of 19 are attended. All kinds of services are provided to inhabitants of Sheffield and South Yorkshire. The hospital provides best medical and surgical facilities for children in UK. About 160,000 patients visited the hospital in the year 2015-2016. More than 3,000 staff and best committed doctors from around the world are the back bone to the hospital. The five year strategic objectives of the hospital are as follows: •To provide healthcare to children of the highest standards available in the UK • To work in partnership with others to reshape healthcare for children in Sheffield •To develop and expand our role as a provider of specialized services for children •To expand the Trusts role as an expert provider of specialist pathology services •To be a national leader in research and education in childrens healthcareWith a vision, ambition and priorities in the region a total of 25 health and care partners from the region have actively participated in the plan’s development. In the year 2008, The Sheffield Childrens Clinical Research Facility (CCRF) was opened and was the first dedicated CCRF IN UK. The main dedication in the field of research is for the development of medicines and new techniques for treatment of children. Research and research modernization at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust comprises of Research Administration and Governance Team and the Clinical Research Facility Team. In synchronization the institute provides all-exclusive assistance to researchers handling the clinical research. The work is carried out exclusively with the comrade in the Medicines for Children Research Network, the South Yorkshire Comprehensive Local Research Network, Regional NHS Trusts and the local universities to assure that a streamlined service is provided for the upbringing of the costing and management of both pediatrics and adult research which is carried out in the South Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. Facilities for research work are provided to the future researchers. The trust is open to clinical trials as well. The trust helps in applying for funds for research, research passports or honorary research contract etc. are arranged by the trust. At the time of study the trust monitors, audits and inspects to make sure that everything is running in a well-planned manner.
