Research Center Borstel was established in 1947 as one of the research institutes of Leibniz-center for
Medicine and Biosciences. Research Center Borstel was mainly focused to research on
tuberculosis and leprosy. Previously it is named as Research Institute Borstel, Institute for Experimental
Biology and Medicine. In 1995 Research Institute Borstel, Institute for Experimental
Biology and
Medicine changed its name to Research Center Borstel. In order to show its closeness to scientific organizations the centre was again changed from Research Center Borstel to Research Center Borstel - Leibniz-Center for
Medicine and Biosciences in 2014. Research Center Borstel mission is comprehensive
health and biomedical research in pneumology focusing on
infection biology, allergology and inflammatory diseases. The Research Center scientists published 117 publications in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, Research Center Borstel organizes near about 30 national and international conferences and workshops per year. The unique
