Pontifical Catholic University (PUC-Rio) is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was founded in 1940 by Cardinal D. Sebastiao Leme and Leonel Franca S.J. It is recognized as one of the top universities in Brazil.
The University enrolled 17,900 students with 800 academic staff and is widely acclaimed for its local excellence in Engineering, Law, Economics, Computer Science, Psychology,
Business and International Relations. It also started International exchange programs in which universities like Harvard, UC Berkeley, Notre Dame, UCLA, Brown University and many other European centres participated in the program for the exchange of hundreds of students every year.
The Computer Graphics Technological Group at the university has developed Lua programming language in 1993. This university is the first internet provider in the country.
