Polytechnic University of Turin was the oldest technical university located in Italy. It was established in 1859. For more than 150 years, the university has been one of the prestigious institutions at both the International and Italian levels concerning education, research, technological transfer and services in the sectors of architecture and engineering. The university is 1st ranking in Italy and 8th in Europe for Engineering according to ARWU Ranking 2013. University’s Innovative Enterprise and Business Incubator ‘I3P’ was ranked 5th in Europe and 15th in the World by UBI Index.

On an average, 32,100 students study in Polytechnic University of Turin. The Departments carry out research and teaching in different disciplines like Department of Architecture and Design, Control and Computer Engineering, Energy, Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning, Mathematical Sciences, Structural, Geotechnical and Building Engineering, Applied Science and Technology, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Management and Production Engineering, Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications.
