Peking University was established in the year 1898. It is enlisted as one of the top universities of China. Peking university supports 216 research institutions at present and the university library is one of the largest in Asia. Some of the eminent personalities who are alumni of the university are noble prize winners such as: Tsung-Dao Lee, Yang Chen Ning and Hao Ping, the Vice President of the Ministry of Education, China. One of the world-renowned notable personalities from the universiry is Prof. Justin Lin, who was the first non-white candidate to be appointed as the Chief economist of World Bank. Some of the main centres of the university are Peking University Health Science Centre and Peking University Business School. Peking University was ranked many times among the best arts and humanities universities in the world. It is a member of the C9 League of nine universities in mainland China.
