Otago is the Newzeland’s first university founded in 1869 by a committee including Thomas Burns the university opened in July 1871. Every year, the University of Otago welcomes international students from over 90 different countries around the world. Otago has earned an international reputation for the quality of its research and teaching, and is New Zealands top-ranked university for research. Otago offers a rich cultural life, reflecting a diverse international student community and New Zealands own multicultural population. It also has a network of some 70,000 graduates living in more than 120 countries and has established alumni branches in many of the worlds major cities including London, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur. It pride on the high level of student support that is offered, both by staff within the International Division and by other Student Services at Otago. As well as welcoming students who come to study at Otago for either a semester or their full degree, it also committed to ensuring Otago students have the opportunity to include an international experience in their studies, through the “Student Exchange Programme”. Current students use eVision for applying to study, for accessing important study-related information and for viewing personal details and updating contact details while studying at Otago. The University of Otago offers many short continuing education courses to staff, students and the public. The University has a very successful summer school programme in which students can choose from a wide range of papers.
