Old Dominion University is a research based university in Virginia, United States. Was established in the year 1930. This University is located in Hampton Roads, one of the worlds major seaports, since the early seventeenth century. The first bachelor’s degree was awarded in the year 1956. The university attained its status in the year 1969. It provides an option of distance education through online. It offers and develops liberal arts, science, technology and professional programs. It offers 70 bachelor degrees in various fields 60 masters and 35 doctoral degrees. Many departments conduct research with NASA incorporation.
     It has more than 300 student organizations, included with professional organizations, honor societies, religious organizations, minority students, and groups for students with common interests and majors as well as a variety of traditional, multicultural, and professional sororities and fraternities. The Student Government Association has direct authority over student organizations. The university encourages sports and athletics like football, basketball, wrestling, Cheerleading, Rowing program, Monarch Maniacs.
The mission of the university is to be a dynamic public research institution that serves its students and enriches the Commonwealth of Virginia, the nation and the world through rigorous academic programs, strategic partnerships, and active civic engagement.
