Founded in 1972 in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, Brazil, the University today has three campuses in Presidente Prudente, and offers 45 official undergraduate degree programs and more than 50 specializations programs and 3 master programs.
During the 2008 academic year, more than 700 faculty members have been working at the University, teaching about 12000 students in its undergraduate and Master programs and other programs and about 1600 professionals involved in
administration and general services. At the Hospital, which is partially supported by Unoeste, more than 190,000 patients were treated in the last year. The University of Western São Paulo (UNOESTE) is occupied with the greatness of advanced education,
advertising fundamental and connected research, and creating exercises of expansion, socially included in helping the group.
Mission of the Oeste Paulista University is to create instruction under an inventive and basic natures turf, through the act of educating, examination and expansion to the group in the few fields of the exploratory, humanistic and mechanical learning, helping the creation of residents and experts focused on high estimations of social and ecological obligation
