Nagasaki University is a national university of Japan. Its nickname is ChÅdai. The main campus is located in Bunkyo-machi, Nagasaki City, and Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. The
history of the University starts from November 12th, 1857 when a Dutch naval surgeon, Dr. Pompe established Igaku Denshusho, which was the oldest medical school in Japan. The Igaku Denshusho Medical School was completely demolished on August 9th 1945 by the atomic bomb.
The university comprises of 8 faculties (Education, Economics, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Studies and Fisheries). The university even has affiliated hospitals, libraries and the institute of Tropical Medicine. Nagasaki has 9,000 students also 300 international students from Asia, Africa and other parts of the world.
