SHI was established in 2011 with the support from SML Group, Mr. Simon Suen, and Mrs. Mary Suen. The faculty of Arts and
Humanities falls under the Hong Kong Baptist University. The Sino-Humanitas Institute (SHI) aims to promote international Sinological research and exchange between Chinese and foreign scholars since there are a need for exchange between Western Sinology and traditional Chinese learning in the global academic community. The Faculty of Arts and Humanities, contains literature, language, music, art, religion, philosophy, and other disciplines. Hong Kong Baptist University is a liberal arts university that focuses on high-quality research and teaching of the Arts and Sciences, and the Faculty of Arts is an essential component of the university itself. Consisting of first class scholars, teachers and supporting staff, this faculty places great emphasis on care for
humanity and integrated teaching and learning. The institute has various
journals under its banner which is cited by Thomson Reuters.
