In the year 2000, University of South Alabama president V. Gordon Moulton dispatched a needs and financial investigation for foundation of a scholastic cancer center at USA. President Moultons presentation of the idea to the USA Board of Trustees in December, 2000, was trailed by a consistent vote to establish the USA Cancer Research Institute (USA-CRI). The USA Board named to the Institute as "USA Mitchell Cancer Institute" in distinguishment of the Mitchell familys contributions. From 2008 to 2012, the center of MCI has been recruitment of clinical staff, improvement of clinical administrations and research programs, recruitment of research faculty, establishment of core research faculty, and advancement of utilization enlivened exploration and innovation improvement.
