Los Alamos National Laboratory is one of the largest laboratories and the largest employers in northern New Mexico. It is having more than 9,000 direct employees and 650 contractor personnel. There are around 120 DOE employees who are there to provide federal oversight of Los Alamos National Laboratorys work and operations. It was established as a research government facility under the Department of Energy. Los Alamos National Laboratory was established in the year 1943. It was the secret laboratory at the time second world war. The main purpose of this Los Alamos National Laboratory is to advance science and technology to fulfill the DOE mission.
