Lodz Medical University was founded in the year 2002 by merging two famous academies known as Medical Academy of Lodz which was founded in 1950 and the Military Medical Academy of Lodz which was founded in the year 1958. Lodz Medical University is one of the major medical research centers in Poland. It can be regarded as the largest teaching hospital unit in Poland and European research center. Lodz Medical University comprising of 49 chairs, 6 research institutes, 7 fully equipped university teaching hospitals. It is having collaboration with 22 international universities. Lodz Medical University has been carrying extensive international scientific cooperation with many foreign academic and research centers like University of Kuopio (Finland), Universite degli Studi di Milano (Italy), etc.
