The Life Science Zurich Graduate School consists of seventeen highly competitive Ph.D. programs, run jointly by the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. We aim to attract to Zurich the most promising young scientists from across the world. Our programs offer a comprehensive and challenging Ph.D. education that allows our students to develop into tomorrows leaders in life science research. Statistics: Students are part of a vivid scientific and social community and get the opportunity to work with the leading scientists in their field of interest. With nearly 500 research groups and more than 1200 PhD students, the LSZGS is one of the largest graduate schools in Europe. Each PhD program of the LSZGS offers a specialized set of introductory and advanced courses, which are based on the scientific focus of the program. In addition, the Life Science Zurich Graduate School provides a variety of transferable skills and methodological courses that are of interest to students from different programs, such as science ethics, scientific writing, statistics, communication and presentation skills as well as next generation sequencing and flow cytometry courses. Research: It has the departments which performs the research under Biomedical Ethics and Law - Medical Track Biomolecular Structure and Mechanism, Cancer Biology, Drug Discovery (enrollment as of May 2017), Ecology, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Evolutionary Biology, Integrative Molecular Medicine, Microbiology & Immunology, Molecular Life Sciences, Molecular and Translational Biomedicine, Neuroscience Plant Sciences, RNA Biology ,Science and Policy, Systems Biology.
