King Fahd University of petroleum and Minerals

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals was established in 23 September 1963 around 51 years ago. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It was elevated to university status in 1975 was renamed after King Fahd in 1986.  The - QS World University Rankings ranked KFUPM at 208 amongst the top 300 universities around the world in 2012. The current Rector of KFUPM is Khaled S. Al-Sultan.
The main vision is to be a preeminent institution known for its globally competitive graduates, cutting edge research and leadership in energy discoveries. As a result of the vast growth of KFUPM, 18,563 degrees were awarded including 1,821 Master’s and 86 Ph.D. degree by the end of the 2004/2005 academic year.
The vast petroleum and mineral resources of the Kingdom pose a complex and exciting challenge for scientific, technical, and management education. Since that time, the University enrollment has grown to a level that is expected to exceed 8,000 by the 2009-2009 academic year. The research activities are guided by the needs of the Kingdom, with concentration on engineering research, environment and water, petroleum and minerals, refining and petrochemicals, communications and computers, and economics and management systems.
