Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University, also known as JSS University, is a deemed university located in Mysore, Karnataka. It was established in 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and is part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which runs a variety of educational institutions. This deemed-to-be university is recognized by both MHRD and NAAC at A Grade, has been focusing more on teaching, research and service , from its inception. JSS University is focused on medical and health-related studies, and comprises JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College and JSS College of Pharmacy at the main campus in Mysore as well as another pharmacy college in Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu. With a view to extend the horizons in the field of Health Sciences, the Department of Water and Health, Department of Health System Management Studies and Department of Life Sciences was also started later. The University has also broadened its physical boundaries through overseas campuses and centers. Spanning 3 international locations, these venues enhance opportunities for collaboration with universities, research institutes, and cultural organizations abroad; meet the needs of a growing number of faculty and students for research support and other opportunities; and engage alumni throughout each region. Center of Excellence in Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CEMR) is established by JSS University and supported in part by Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) and Department of Science and Technology - Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure (DST-FIST) program.
