About University: The Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Homeland Security is a police higher
education institution that teaches the Police Officers Training Course (CFOP) and is installed in the building of the former Calvary Convent in Alcântara-Lisbon. The present building, resulting from the reconstruction after the earthquake of 1755, was successively occupied by several schools, until, in 1966, it was assigned to the Police School of Practice, being restored and submitted to works of improvement, made by the Ministry of Public Works And by the Public Security Police itself. First, it was adapted to the needs of the Practical School and later to those of the Higher Police School. At the beginning of the school year 1994/95 the new facilities of the Police High School were inaugurated, annexed to the old building, and from this date onwards, equipped with modern educational support facilities. In February 1999, the Higher School of Police was renamed the Higher Institute of Police and Homeland Security, in accordance with the
Law on the Organization and Functioning of the Public Security Police (Law no. 5/99 of 27 January ). The project to create this Institute (still as a School), dating from 1979, aimed at gradually replacing the Army Officers to serve in the Public Security Police, by preparing and training Police Officers with higher
education With the Training Course for Police Officers. The competence of this Institute to grant a degree in Police Sciences to the holders of the Training Course for Police Officers was attributed by Administrative Rule no. 298/94 of 18 May, which approved the curricular structure and syllabus of this course.

Solidarity Projects:
ISCPSI / APAV Race: It seeks to instill in the student body the will to serve well and the spirit of leadership, working the moral and human components of integral formation and wanting to energize the image of the Police as an institution that intervene in a close and active way among citizens and the whole community , We developed, during the academic year, different solidarity activities.
Mountain bike: The MTB is a sporting modality that has as objective to tread paths with diverse irregularities and obstacles. The sport was launched in California, United States in 1950, prompted by the jokes of some cyclists looking for challenges other than on-road competitions associated with surfers trying to distract themselves from other activities on days when there were no waves. Among us, this project has as general objectives: Perform a BTT / Orientation test directed at the Student Company; Organize two tours, one intern for the entire ISCPSI community, and another open to the whole population with solidarity.
