The ICIA is an autonomous organization of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, attached to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock
Fisheries and Food, for the purpose of programming and carrying out research and development and transfer of agricultural technologies in the Community Autonomous of the Canary Islands. The headquarters is located in Valle Guerra (La Laguna - Tenerife) and has attached offices and research plots in Tenerife, La Palma, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura. At present, ICIA has a staff of fifty researchers and agricultural technicians and a hundred people to support research and technical transfer. Functions Elaboration and execution of research projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness of agricultural production in the Canaries, especially in the field of tropical and subtropical crops, plant protection and animal production. Direct support to the sector is carried out through studies, analyzes and opinions on products and means of production. Training of agricultural specialists through national and international courses organized in collaboration with educational and research institutions.
