The Institute of
Biomedical Engineering (IBME) uses recent advances in medical technology to perform large-scale and multi-disciplinary research initiatives in medical technology which can help people to lead independent and productive lives without any disability, illness and ageing. In IBME they invite various scientists, engineers and medics from across the college where they work together in partnership with leading Med-Tech companies and create some revolutionary progress in diagnosis and treatment of disease which can be helpful for the people. The IBME runs various networks so that they can make new collaboration and interaction between technologists and biomedical scientists who are expert in a particular disease areas, so that the full spectrum of disease burden can be covered, and it also runs Research Centres that provides central infrastructure and
management support so that the researchers can work in coordinated and focused programs and achieve
healthcare impact in particular areas which can are of great importance. The Research Centres include the Medical Engineering Solutions in
Osteoarthritis Centre of Excellence, the Centre for Blast Injury Studies, the Centre for Bio-Inspired Technology and the Centre for
Synthetic Biology and Innovation.
