Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) is a women’s university in New Delhi. Earlier it was the Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology in 1998 and was the only constituent college of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. After autonomy has been upgraded from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology in May 2013 and became the first womens technical university in India. The university offers admission to only female candidates in the Ph.D. program commencing from August, 2015. The university has four departments namely Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical and Automation Engineering, Applied Sciences & Humanities, Architecture and Planning, Computer Science and Engineering. This university is to promote high quality scientific research in the fields of engineering, science and technology, and related areas. The Ph.D. program for females candidates to enriching research experience enhance them to grow in their professional and academic career as well as it also It also helps the students to develop an inquisitive and pragmatic approach to the needs of the society and industry. Their main objective is to educate, enlightenment and empowerment the women’s. IGDTUW has been ranked at second position among Top 10 Emerging Engineering Institutes of India based on an All India Survey conducted by India Today. The survey shows that the University has scored 86.5/100 on various parameters. The Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Association has honored IGDTUW as the fastest growing university. The students of IGDTUW has won the Chairman award of Rs 100000/- in the BAJA SAEINDIA 2014. The Super mileage vehicle was designed by IGDTUW girls for SHELL ECO MARATHON held in Malaysia.
