The Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IITI), IIT Indore is an engineering and technology institute of national importance for higher education established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011 and laid its foundation of the permanent campus, spread over an area of 510-acre (2.1 km2), on 17th February 2009 at Simrol, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Professor Pradeep Mathur has been appointed as the first director of IIT Indore in 2010, who has received his Bachelors degree in Science (Chemistry Honours) from the Polytechnic of North London, University of North London, U.K., in 1978 and the Doctor of Philosophy (Chemistry) from Keele University, U. K., in 1983. IITI offers many multi-disciplinary programs in 3 schools of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Humanities and Social Sciences including Inter-Disciplinary Research Areas of Bio-Sciences and Bio-Medical Engineering, Astrophysics, Material Science and Engineering for B. Tech, M. Tech Ph.D. Research at IIT Indore has been recognized at international level with active participation in several key international projects and several joint collaborations with research organizations in Japan, South Korea, Russian Federation, Portugal, France, Germany, USA, and many other countries. A core competency of IIT Indore is research driven academic programme as it forms a core component of the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
